3D epoxy flooring is a high-resolution printed image sealed under a clear, self-levelling epoxy layer on a prepared concrete slab, giving a seamless floor with real visual depth. BiswasRaj Flooring’s published price bands put decorative and 3D systems at ₹250 to ₹350 or more per sq ft installed.
It sits at the decorative end of the types of epoxy flooring and is built for looks first. That changes where it belongs, what it costs and how it should be laid, which is what this guide covers.

What Is 3D Epoxy Flooring And How Does It Create Depth?
3D epoxy flooring creates depth by layering, not by sculpting. A printed design is bonded onto a smooth epoxy base, then flooded with a clear self-levelling coat that refracts light over the image and adds gloss, so the picture appears to sit below the surface.
The illusion itself lives in the artwork. Designers use perspective, shadow and forced angles so that an ocean, a canyon or a 3D tile pattern reads as real from one chosen viewpoint, usually the main doorway. Step to the side and the effect softens, which is normal.
The build has four visible layers above the prepared concrete:
• Primer: seals the slab and gives every layer above it something to grip
• Base coat: a smooth, usually white or light epoxy layer that the print bonds to
• Printed layer: the design, printed in large format on a film made for embedding in resin
• Clear coat and topcoat: the clear self-levelling epoxy for depth, then a protective topcoat for scratch and UV resistance
The clear layer uses the same self-levelling resin found in industrial work, typically laid at 2 to 3 mm. Here the thickness is chosen for clarity and depth rather than load, because nothing heavy should ever roll across a printed floor.
Where Does 3D Epoxy Flooring Work Best?
3D epoxy flooring works best on indoor floors with foot traffic and a clear main viewpoint: living rooms, bathrooms, showroom entrances, hotel lobbies, restaurants, play zones and branded reception areas. It is a poor fit for forklift aisles, loading docks or anywhere hard wheels and dropped tools are routine.
Demand for 3D flooring for home use usually starts with one room rather than the whole house. Bathrooms with sea or pebble scenes, a living room centrepiece, a pooja room floor or a child’s bedroom are the common requests, because a single feature floor makes more impact than a repeated pattern.
Commercial clients tend to use it as signage on the ground. A car showroom can run a road graphic up to the display bay, a café can put its logo at the counter, and a mall atrium can carry a seasonal theme that becomes the photo spot.
Two site conditions matter more than room type:
• Sunlight: strong direct sun through glass speeds up yellowing, so south and west facing rooms need a UV stable topcoat
• Moisture: ground floor and bathroom slabs must be tested, because vapour rising through concrete is the main reason resin floors lift
How Much Does 3D Epoxy Flooring Cost In India?
3D epoxy flooring costs about ₹250 to ₹350 or more per sq ft installed, based on the decorative and 3D band in our own price guide. That band covers material and labour together, and usually excludes GST and any structural repair the slab needs.
To see how that compares with plain coatings and warehouse systems, the full epoxy flooring cost in India breakdown shows every band side by side. The 3D band sits at the top because of the extra design, printing and clear coat work.
When you compare quotes, remember that a 3D flooring price per sq ft is never a single fixed number. The same design can be priced very differently depending on what each contractor has assumed about your slab and your artwork.
|
Cost driver |
Why it changes the rate |
|
Artwork |
A custom design or render costs more than a stock image |
|
Print quality |
Higher resolution prints for large rooms cost more but avoid a blurred finish |
|
Slab condition |
Cracks, old tiles or damp patches need repair before any resin goes down |
|
Area |
Small rooms carry fixed setup costs, so the per sq ft rate rises |
|
Clear coat and topcoat |
A thicker clear build and a UV stable topcoat add material cost |
|
City and access |
Metro labour rates and upper floor access add to the bill |
Ask each contractor to name the clear coat thickness, the topcoat type and whether artwork is included. A quote that leaves out any of those three cannot be compared fairly with one that lists them.
How Is A 3D Epoxy Floor Installed Step By Step?
A 3D epoxy flooring job runs in seven stages: site check, surface preparation, repairs, primer, base coat, print placement and clear coating. Most projects finish within three to seven days, and much of that time is controlled curing between layers rather than active work on the floor.
1. Site check and moisture test. The slab is inspected for cracks, hollow spots and damp. ASTM’s relative humidity test for concrete slabs is the formal method, and a plastic sheet taped down overnight is a quick first check.
2. Surface preparation. Diamond grinding removes laitance, old paint or sealer and opens the concrete so the primer can bond.
3. Repairs. Cracks, chips and low spots are filled and levelled, because any flaw in the base shows through the clear coat.
4. Primer. A penetrating primer seals the slab and forms the bond layer.
5. Base coat. A smooth, light coloured epoxy layer goes down, giving the print an even, bright background.
6. Print placement. The printed design is laid, rolled flat and bonded, with joins aligned and air pushed out.
7. Clear coat and topcoat. A clear self-levelling coat is poured over the print and de-aired, then a protective topcoat follows once it cures.
The clear pour follows the same method as a standard self levelling epoxy floor, with far less tolerance for dust or bubbles, since every flaw sits on top of the picture. Work is paused if humidity or temperature drifts outside the resin maker’s limits.
How Does It Compare With Metallic Epoxy And Tiles?
A printed 3D floor gives exact control over the picture, while metallic epoxy flooring creates a one-off marbled or pearl look with no print at all. Vitrified tiles usually cost less up front but bring grout lines, which a seamless resin floor avoids.

If you want a specific scene or a logo, only a printed floor delivers it. If you want something that looks like liquid stone and never repeats, metallic is the better choice and is usually simpler to lay.
Many projects combine the two, with a metallic field and one printed feature panel. Our epoxy flooring service covers 3D, metallic and plain decorative finishes, so one site visit can price every option for your room.
What Can Go Wrong With A 3D Floor And How Do You Prevent It?
Most 3D epoxy flooring failures come from the slab or the site, not the print: damp concrete that lifts the coating, trapped air that leaves bubbles over the image, and sunlight that yellows a standard clear coat. Each one is preventable at the planning stage.
• Lifting or blistering: caused by moisture rising through the slab; prevented by testing first and letting new concrete cure for at least 28 days
• Bubbles and specks: caused by trapped air, dust or rushed pouring; prevented by de-airing each pour and keeping the room sealed while it cures
• Yellowing: caused by UV light on standard epoxy; prevented with a UV stable topcoat near windows and doors
• Scratches and dull patches: caused by grit and furniture; prevented with doormats, felt pads and a renewable topcoat
• Blurred image: caused by low resolution artwork; prevented by approving a full scale print sample before laying
These are the same root causes behind most resin floor failures, explained in our guide to epoxy flooring problems. The difference with a printed floor is that repairs are much harder to hide, so prevention matters even more.
How Do You Maintain A Printed Epoxy Floor?
Daily care is simple: sweep or dust mop to remove grit, then wipe with a damp mop and a mild, pH neutral cleaner. Avoid acids, bleach and abrasive pads, and renew the topcoat when it dulls, so the image underneath never takes the wear.
• Put doormats at every outside entrance, since grit is what scratches the gloss
• Fit felt pads to chair and table legs, and lift furniture rather than dragging it
• Wipe spills promptly, especially oil, turmeric and hair dye, which can stain the topcoat
• Use blinds or window film where direct afternoon sun falls on the floor
• Book a check when the gloss fades in walkways, before wear reaches the clear coat
Is A 3D Floor The Right Choice For Your Space?
Choose 3D epoxy flooring when you want one statement floor, the area sees foot traffic rather than wheels, and the slab tests dry. If any of those three is uncertain, a metallic or plain self-levelling finish may suit the space better.
